Hello all and welcome to Life and Crimes with Dan Proudman. I am a journalist with more than 25 years' experience in both regional and metropolitan newspapers across NSW, Australia. It includes nearly 18 years as the chief police reporter at the Newcastle Herald and a short stint as chief police reporter at the Sydney Morning Herald. I now freelance with a great mate and gun photographer Peter Lorimer, who has been shooting crime scenes and many other things for over three decades.
I have kicked off this blog to continue my love affair with crime reporting and have an outlet to inform readers on crime stories that are happening in our neck of the woods - mainly the northern part of NSW including the Hunter, Central Coast, mid-north coast, western and north-western NSW. And if there are any crimes that spark my interest across the country, or even beyond, I will get stuck into those as well.
But this blog will not just rewrite police press releases or just what is happening around the traps. With a vast contact book (which has been taped back together at least four times), I will be revealing new evidence and exclusive details relating to current crimes and those colder cases which may have been shelved or forgotten.
It will also give me a platform to reminisce about old crime yarns I have found fascinating since I first started chasing cops around the place in 1993. And you can also expect riveting chats with former and current detectives about a range of things - from the crimes and crooks they are investigating to those which still keep them awake at night.
Just as importantly, I will also throw this forum open to victims of crime and their families to help give them an outlet to voice their thoughts and concerns.
So please feel free to follow this blog, as well as my professional Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/danproudmancrime/ and Twitter handle https://twitter.com/Proudman74

Hope you enjoy
